The New Vegas Architecture, a photo from Nevada, West

Photographer's Note

This is another photo of the amazingly photogenic City Centre in Las Vegas, located on the Stip across from Planet Hollywood.

It just recently opened, in Dec 09. It has tons of angles, rectangles, spikes, and geometric designs to capture the attention of anyone walking by.

It takes up an amazing 17 Million square feet, and 76 acres on the Strip. The City Centre includes hotels (4800 rooms) and condos (2400).

It features the Aria Hotel, Mandarin Oriental Residences and Spa (condos), Veer Towers (condos), Vdara Hotel, and a 500,000 square foot entertainment distrcit with the strips first ever Grocery Store!

Its original cost was at $4 Billion, but the end total was $11 Billion.

In the early stages of construction, there were plans for a golf course as well - i'm not sure if that made it to the final design plans though.

I'll find out, as Westcoastgirl1 and I are going back again in May :)

Hello Craig -

The angles and shapes makes this an interesting image to look at. I think the triangular spire in the right corner sets this off and really makes it work. The tourist shot would be the blue/gold building with the odd angles and the reflections but including the copper top adds contrasting angles and some tension. Well seen and presented.

Hello Craig,

I like the overall yellow-blue colors of this building. Moreover there is the visual impact of this corner not vertical and providing dynamism to this view.
I like your choice of framing without external elements, making the view a bit abstract.

Hi Craig,

I very much enjoyed your gallery, particularly the many fantastic graphic shots. What I like about this particular picture is its richness on one hand, and balance on the other hand. There are horizontal, vertical lines, lines at an angle, but they occupy a particular section of the photo. Same with colours. The POV, sharpness are great.
