Saturday is the day of the week I set aside for unusual, humorous, or just fun shots I upload to TE. I have noticed that (for whatever reason) Fridays are terrible days to submit and Saturdays aren't that much better. So it is for that reason I choose to ignore Fridays and have some fun with Saturdays on TE.

I've been spending a lot of time lately at the Little Estero Critical Wildlife Area down on Fort Myers Beach. Using a sawed-off monopod and lying on my stomach most of the time to get eye level with the birds I'm real happy with the results. Getting down low to the ground actually makes the birds less afraid, such as this guy who practically walked right over me. With 800mm of lens on the front of the camera he was almost too close to focus.

The Florida bird book claims this to be a little blue heron during breeding season. 400mm f2.8 Canon lens w/ 2x teleconverter and late afternoon sun.
