Daily life on the foreshore

Early afternoon on the foreshore near Jambiani, Zanzibar. Its low tide. Dhows lay tilted. Kids are playing. Some people are working in their patch of sea grass (grown for the Japanese market). This commercial activity explains the little sticks emerged at this tidal stage. Others seem to be bathing to cool down (a few heads visible in the sea grass patches). One has buried leftover coconuts in the little mounds in the foreground. I was told that after decomposing for a few months, they will be used to make ropes.

Scθne de vie sur la batture

Cest marιe basse ΰ Jambiani, Zanzibar. Les bateaux reposent penchιs. Des garηons samusent. Quelques personnes saffairent dans leur carrι dalgues (cultivιes pour le marchι japonais). Cette culture explique les petits bβtons visibles un peu partout ΰ ce stade de la marιe. Le soleil est haut et certains semblent se rafraξchir dans ces carrιs dalgue (quelques tκtes ιmergent). On a enterrι des restes de noix de coco dans les petits monticules au premier plan. On ma dit quaprθs quelques mois de dιcomposition on en a fera des cordes.

It is the first time I am talking texture on a water surface, so I am not sure if it is a true terminology... But water has a very graphical "texture" on it... The tones of blue and grey, all layed in horizontal lines...
I like the simple composition with the kids hanging out and people working...

c'est drτle pour moi de voir des images de Jambani sur TE. J'y suis allι un jour, il n'y avait personnes. Il n'y avait pas non plus tous ces champs d'alges.

Incredible lines of grey, black and blue, to bright green.
That red dressed boy is a perfect break-out point in the picture

Wow! This is a wonderful composition, Claude! Those lines are just great details, creating a very nice effect by the compreession of your lens. Its why I love to shot with this huge zooms! The lots of colours and tones are fantastic and the scene is so picturesque! Excellent work! Congratulations! I really love it!

La mer s'ιtant retirιe, cela a produit de jolies lignes et une belle palette de couleurs. j'aime voir ces barques penchιes avec leurs balanciers et les locaux qui animent la scθne.

Bonjour Claude!

Woow, quelle photo impressionnante. Elle n'attire pas vraiment en "miniature" mais quand on l'ouvre on dιcouvre un petit trιsor. La composition est tout d'abord trθs bien rιussie, avec les diffιrents ιlιments idιalement placιs. Ensuite, j'aime particuliθrement la texture et la succession des diffιrentes couches colorιes.
Trθs bonne photo, bravo!

i do love that eastern african coast - when the tide is turning it reveals fantastic plethora of layers where colourfully dressed people try to find something, sell something... as if a different world was born...
