Photographer's Note
I had been wandering around the streets of Bo-Kaap searching for photo ops where I came across this pleasant looking Cape Malay gentleman outside his house. Admittedly, different cultures and people have different ideas about being photographed and be sensitive to these differences is vital. I took some time patiently trying to communicate with him using universal gestures like pointing at my camera, smiling and gently pointing at him as if asking permission knowing well that if he refused then I just walk away. He is after all, doing me a favour and not the other way round.
Fortunately, I caught good eye contact there with a surprising respond of a smile on his face. My presence had somehow distracted him momentarily, but I always marvel at what was presented before my lens - his time and the kind of humanity subject and grab shot on the street that I always love doing.

J'aime beaucoup cette composition. Mκme si l'homme semble κtre sur un balcon, tu es au mκme niveau que lui. Probablement que sa conjointe l'envoie fumer dehors.

You were lucky he was so obliging and cooperative. I like the duo-tone colours in the bg of apricot and grey. Good sharpness and the man is well placed on the vertical 1/3 axis. Tfs!

You excellently captured his gesture and didn't even have to intrude to his personal space without his consent. The result is rather stunning. I also like how this photo obeys the rule of the third.
