Photographer's Note
This was taken at Kruger National Park. The elephant population has grown to such an extent that it has become an "emotional" problem. There have been incidents of elephants attacking cars that get too close to them and so people are blaming the over population problem on this.

:) The scene would have sent the Hearts of those poor folks pounding. Look at that scale, there's no car to put up a brave front to an Elephant like that.
Excellent photography showing the tense moment, I hope they got away with it without any damage?

Wow now I really look forward to drive on South African roads! African animals on the roads, you drive on the left and carjacking is fairly normal. That will be a suitable place to drive outside Norway for the first time, and a great story when I come home :P I was thinking maybe you have some thoughts about renting a car there. Is it safe? Is it worth it? And how should a route from Cape Town to Pretoria look like if so (with a bit of sightseeing)?

in my opinion its US that are the problem. We are the one's who are building roads near the elephants roaming land - its our fault.
As for the photo, i chose it because i like the contradiction between the car and elephant...something we dont see too often.
