Photographer's Note
I love low light pictures, the impression they give is one of calmness, gentleness and the feeling that everything is ok.
This picture was taken at 18h35 at the Bloemfontein Waterfront, winter is now approaching so it gets dark quite quickly now, I used the scene assist on my camera, and then edited it with Gaussian blur (radius of 0.25).
I thought the picture came out quite well...but when I see all the other great shots on TE, I realise I have a lot to learn.

hello Mark..and wellcome to TE..
this is a very lovely night picture..after I came here I learned a lot too..I would maybe try to take step to left to get rid of the sign and get more of the reflection that's cut at the bottom right..
one question for my curiousity : why did you use gaussian blur ? you did not like the sharpness in the picture ?

Yes, I agree about low light, and catching this and dusk gives that colour to the sky which balance the picture nicely. I think the very bright lights spoil it a bit though.

Hi Mark, and welcome to TE! You captured the scene beautifully; I love the blue left in the sky especially. I must agree with Fusun and Richard, though, when it comes to the sign and the bright lights. Also, I don't know how sharp your original image was, but I would have hesitated to add gaussian blur -- the lighting and reflections are enough to set the tranquil mood of the scene. But I like this one!

Bloemfontein has a waterfront? You see, here at TE we don't only learn about the rest of the world, but of our own country too. *G*
This is a very nice dusk shot, with warm colours, good water reflections and a pretty sky. Well done!
Now that we have three pictures of waterfronts here in SA, I'm going to start a group theme, hopefully it will grow.

This is the one I prefer, full of serenity. The only thing I would reproach is the presence of the blue banner on the left side.
Bravo, Niko.

Nice night shot... the lighted right side of the shore came out very clear with the water reflection. This gives a good contrast for the darker middle part of the picture.
Suggestion: i would have omitted the sign and jetty from the shot by shifting more to the right.
