Photographer's Note

This smooth water gives a beautiful mirror effect where coloured decorations of the traditional Senegal boats are reflected.
Bandiala is one of the arms of the sea of the river Sine Saloum where the fresh waters meet salted water of the Atlantic Ocean. A delta made up of islands with an exuberant vegetation made up of mangrove. The channels which separate the few 200 islands from the area are called here "bolongs" and to traverse them in dugout gets to the visitor a real expatriation ... With such a vegetation one understands easily that in these islands, the animals (in particular birds) are much more numerous than the villagers.
