A closeup, detailed shot of part of a gold necklace found on the coffin of Queen Ahhotep I, inside her tomb at Dra Abu el Naga near Luxor. It is now in the Cairo Museum. This type of neck collar was called Usekh. I liked all the little animals, such as lions, goats, cats etc and had no idea ancient Egyptian jewellry was so sophisticated back in the 17th and 18th dynasties that this dates to. (1580 to 1550 BC and 1550/1549 to 1292 BC).

Hello Chris,
The figures of this necklace look surprisingly modern. I remember being enormously impressed by some of the jewellery found in Tutankhamun's grave, and these pieces are not far behind. Thanks to the sharpness and good contrasts this close view proves the skill of the ancient craftsmen.

It is amazing to realize how old this neclace is. GReat capture. These expositions have such an uncertain fate so it was definitely worth to record it.

This is a stunning necklace and one which I feel modern ladies would enjoy wearing.
Animal jewellery is still very popular today.
I have a pair of earrings sporting cats, very similar in style to the images of Bastet, which I frequently wear!
I like your close-up and the crop.
The gold shows up well against the dark b/g.
