Photographer's Note
Looking at the massive walls and columns of the Egyptian temples consisting of huge heavy blocks one wonders how it was possible to build them with primitive tools. The answer is here. Instead of the cranes, ancient Egyptians used the ramp - an inclined plane to raise the objects. They made the bricks from the mud from the Nile, then stacked them into a ramp. They added wooden tracks and pulled the massive stone block up on the sledges. They poured the water to lubricate the path. They built the ramp higher and higher till the wall was completed. Then they destroyed the ramp. The first pylon was not finished and the rest of the ramp survived.
Through the first pylon, we come to the big courtyard, There are rams on one side. On the other side is the small temple of Ramses III. And there is the entrance to the hypostyle hall.
See two Workshops and all in the large format.

Hello Malgo,
You make it sound so easy... these buildings still impress me... and how did they build the pyramids? ;-)
Three nice photos. This is the most informative and educational, the WS of the statue has the best light and colours.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Malgo,
The presence of the persons has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details of this section of the temple. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo, three impressive shots.
We can see the size of the bricks very clearly, they must have been extremely heavy.
Thank you for the information about the ramp.
I wonder how the palm trees manage to grow amongst the ancient buildings ? They add a nice touch of green.
Excellent sharp quality.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Malgo,
Three wonderful pictures of Karnak.
Those long rows of rams continue to intrigue me.
But actually I like your photo in WS2 the most. What we see is impressive and beautiful in every photo. But the light and colours are what make that WS so appealing.
Best regards, Paul

Hello my dear Malgorzata
thanks for the sharing
of your useful notes
I red all these carefully
I red about the ramp an inclined
plane to raise the objects...
and the most important detail is...
that they built the ramp higher
and higher till the wall was
completed....
regards

Hello Malgo,
The remnants of the ramp were a good clue to modern investigators, as to how the buildings had been created. It does suggest that a huge workforce was employed for such buildings.
Your photograph, especially as figures are present, give us a good understanding of the scale of the temple, with its courtyard and sculptures.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

I liked these photos, shows well the grandeur of the temple and its details. the egyptian monumentality of buildings impressed even today. the babylon and sumerians civilizations had not so much luck because they used bricks instead stones.
take care

Hello Malgo,
It is so majestic, it looks like a fortress. Those two palm trees seem to be the only vegetation in the frame. The Entrance to the Ramses Temple photo does not even have one!
Regards,
MT
