Photographer's Note
A detail from within a wooden coffin of the winged goddess Isis, a goddess in Egyptian mythology. She was the sister and wife of Osiris. Isis and Osiris had a son named Horus. As goddess of life and magic, Isis protected women and children, and healed the sick. The museum has moved out to Giza from central Cairo since I was there, and is well worth the admission fee. Allow an entire day. There is a LOT to see.

Hello Chris,
I may have seen this piece, but it's hard to remember after 37 years exactly what I saw at this amazing museum. The collections were enormous but not perfectly organized. But even then one of the most impressive museums I have seen. The beauty of these details are still astonishing after so many years, and you captured them with good exposure and sharpness and vivid colours.

Details of the wooden art on the coffin shown with fine light upon and superb clarity.
Daily life from ancient Egypt were beautifully depicted and decorated. A fine picture outcome.

Hello Chris, Excellent presentation of this old coffin. I was in Cairo Museum but only till noon, as it was Friday (it was an orh]ganized tour, they should know that it would be closed). But I managed to see the most important exhibits. Fantastic view.

Excellent details of the wing-spreading goddess.
She appears to be enfolding and caring for contents of the coffin.
The lighting conditions were far from perfect but you have been able to capture the raised details clearly. Did you up the ISO?
