Photographer's Note
I saw her as her school finished and she came out running from the class room. UN vehicles always attract lot of curiosity, specially to the children. Several of them bunched up near the patrol car. She was a bit far and unfazed by all happenings. When she saw me bringing out my camera, she smiled naturally and posed. And there it is....
3 years civil war in Ivory Coast has left most of the schools closed in the northern rebel held territories. Recently there are signs of improvement and schools are reopenning, teacher coming back. This picture was shot at Sucrivoire, Zeunoula, north of the Zone of Confidance, the buffer zone being patrolled by UN peacekeeping troops.
