Hej Gert,
This time a much more traditional looking view from Algeria. Red soil match perfectly with the walls of same colour. Blue doors of course add good contrast. Palms at the background catch attention too.

Fabulous colour here Gert, the rusty red is so rich, add in the blue and green and you have a really good contrast of colours. Impressive scan and pin sharp. Your shot looks as if it could have been taken yesterday - timeless and a simple but lovely DL scene.

I would not have guessed that this was a scan as the quality is superb. I love the earthy red colours and the contrasting blue doors. You caught the man walking in an excellent position. An interesting note too.

namaste Gert, the red wall of the bakery is really interesting. Those palm trees at top and the blue doors are really contrasting with the rest. Good composition with the man passing by. Tfs.

I like very much how you have placed this red wall across the frame having the viewer wondering what lies behind it. The blue doors, both the closed and the open one, are eye-catching and mysterious. The simple structure of the composition and the colour palette limited to four colours make the description of this place so effective. The man hurrying decisively away from the doors is a captivating representative of the local people. His attitude extends the context beyond the limits of the frame, which he will be leaving in a moment. Congratulations and thank you!

A strong eye puller and effective play of strong shapes, textures and striking colors to greatest impact to attract attention. The dwellers certainly brightened up the oasis town so well and you have captured this riot of color beautifully, and the man is there to make happening. As usual your handling of light is always second to none. A very gaily shot from the remote desert and tkhs for sharing, Congrats.

Wow how can this be an scanned photo, so saturated colors, so good definition and contrast
Anyway a top capture and composition, with plenty of detail to admire, seems like it has been taken today, still few changes may have happen over there, may be La Place exist and is still selling bread

you see Gert, this...THIS is the type of 'people' photo I enjoy taking.
Here i totally, completely, 100% see the benefit of having people in the scene. Having someone walk into the scene here doesn't bother me a bit (it did before, but i'm adapting), i'm all for it, and the photo is better for it too.

and again, i wonder how this scene would look today, nealy 40 years later! that would be so fun to find out! but it sounds like its a disaster trying to even get to this location.

so what made you want to venture out to this small town/village? did you know about it, or was it an un-expected visit. was there a purpose or motive?

love everthing about this scene. heck, even the ground dirt looks like the red walls and doors!
everything looks like its red clay colored.
and obviously the blue door with white trim stands out smartly because of it.

wicked shot!!!! Just looking at it brings about 10 questions to mind immediately

what a stunning shot,the combination of the Kodacrome slide and larger format has come up trumps.
The vibrant colours just leap off the screen whilst the man in traditional garb is well placed in the frame to add both interest and scale.

Hello Gert,

You're capturing well this place by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the road with red heat, the outer wall with deep red, blue door, and coconuts trees in back. It's strong primary colors. So, I can image that this is the tropical area. And, the residents walking the road draws out an additional good effect inthe image.

questa tua foto scattata nel sud dell'Algeria era sfuggita alla mia attenzione, ed eppure, pur essendo una trasposizione in digitale di una vecchia dipositiva, conserva ancora oggi tutto il suo fascino, sia per la scena che hai ritratto che per i colori che dominano la bella composizione.
Complimenti anche per l'ottima trasposizione in digitale.

Hello Gert,
I was immediately attracted to the colours here. A terracotta red and blue can't help but be a winning combination. It seems to have lost nothing in the scanning judging by its sharpness. I like too that there is some human interest and even he is colour co-ordinated.

Another good old one! Almost seems taken with a digital camera. I like the composition a lot, the man passing, the local bakery and that wonderful wall. Colours and textures are great. I've always had the feeling that Algeria is a very interesting country.

I like the various tones of red with the blue accents here and there of the doors and the mans matching shirt. This places name clearly suits it well. I like the detail of the palm trees peeking over the top of the wall. A nice street capture form time gone by.
