Kamran,
Sometimes people guess "it should be the biggest/highest etc. in the world" and do not actually check it. For example, Lhasa, Tibetan capital, has an altitude of 3650 m. and there are hotels over there. Sorry, I am sure that is what you were told, it is just a pet peeve of mine to correct inaccuracies. Anyway, still an impressive altitude.

Oermis,
Apparently you have not read my comments. I said It is one of the highest elevations not the highest. Please read carefully and then make a comment. The title just introduce the subject for discussion. in fact I wanted to put a question mark at the end of the title but there was not enough room. BTw, Tochal hotel is a luxury hotel with suites for $300-$400 per night. If I want to talk about lower class hotels I could say 3-story Damavand hotel/Shelter at the elevation of 4250m which probably is the highest. |

I read it carefully, but then you edited it. Weird. In the original version it said there might be a hotel at a higher elevation in La Paz, other than that this is "the" highest one. Whatever though, I sure didn't expect you to get so worked up on it and edit your original post, it was just a minor comment in the spirit of learning more about the world.

I added Tibet to my comments very soon after I posted the original version, and it was at least half an hour before I saw your comments. Therefore, you should have read it at least one more time before you posted your comments.
Anyway, It is not that important, and don't get upset please. |
