Good maciekda 2004-12-11 4:22

nice scene and nice compo with the door in the midlle. but the picture would be better if you didn't crop the kid on the left side, would be more balanced, definitely some more space on the left is needed. nice work still

Default To maciekda: alienation effect

First, thank you for your critique.

In a classical approach, you are completely right.

However, I think I wrote in some reply notes before, I like 'some disturbing' compositions. I think this is something similar to Bertolt Brecht's 'Alienation Effect' theory in the theatre. After millions of well composed, well balanced images (photo or movie) human brain memorizes this structure and matchs the new image to thousands of memorized images...and the result: doesn't think about it too much or thinks a mixed way of new and old one.But something a little unusual, breaks that barrier.

If I critique my photo, perhaps I should focus the girl and show the boy more blured. This would give a message something like that:' This is not the only one working children, there are many of them.' This thought is why right weighted composition. But focusing mistake that I said caused a non-balanced vew.

Thanks for your critique again, thanks for the opportunity to talk about photography.
