Nice shot - you should celebrate your national day, in fact I often wonder why it's not a bank holiday (like march 17th is for us).
It's a good image, although maybe it'd be more effective if the Union Flag were sharp & other elements less so. Still, it conveys an image of an English spring day, with the flowers in front of the flag. Excellent note to go with the photo.
(Ironically, St. Patrick's nationality & origin are also the stuff of great debate (was he Welsh, French or English - no one is sure!).

To peter1892: Bank holidays
Hi
I agree that it might have been better to have the flag in focus, I had a go at this but didn't get any good results though. About the issue of making St George's Day a national holiday, I think people are cautious as it would mean that they'd have to cater for all the other patron saints. Also, for economic reasons, that holiday would probably be one day too many as it lies close to Easter and the May Bank holiday. Though, my thoughts are we should have it as a holiday!
