Well well well Patricia Lam...this is really quite creative, especially for a scientist!
I was trying to photograph a flag today, so know it must have been quite difficult to catch it spread out like that...its not all that windy today either.
This is a really beautiful shot Trish...I would be proud. I wonder if this would have more impact if the blur was on the pettles? Not sure, but I do think this looks great!

I tried to photograph the flag in focus but it turned out poorly and this was the best shot on the day! Thought I'd post this image anyway to mark St George's Day. It was a difficult shot as I had to find a flag first of all and then tried to make it more interesting so I pleased with this result. Cheers, Trish
