Hey, Henk,
those obscene profits the big oil companies are making is why Americans ARE so angry about gas prices. Record breaking profits year after year and gasoline just gets more and more and more expensive. (and it's not taxes for us - that might cut into their profits) We have so far to drive (most of us) to shop, work, whatever that prices like these are putting a serious hurt on us. And they are sure not looking for any ways to make it better. Shelly

Hi Shelly,
I just made the conversion from gallon to liter and from Euro to US$ And I arrive at a price of 7.0454 $ per gallon for diesel (gasoline) since yesterday here in Luxemburg. Well, it s a small country...:-) Regards John.

Hi, John,
I just checked our diesel prices here (which all our truckers use) and they are ranging from $4.37 - $4.39 a gallon. That is up about $1.50 from a year ago. I think this is actually worse than the gasoline prices because we pay for those increases with everything we purchase. Everything. S.

It's not only the gas prices that are getting to expensive... Also the most elementary things, like food are much to expensive for people. A few months ago our pay went up with a poor 1 % ! If I compare some prices in a period of one year, some things went up with more than 20 % ! Many people (even in Belgium that is known as a so called "rich" country) most people are not able anymore to put some money aside...
It's like we are going back to the middle ages : rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer... even stronger : people who have a more or less decent pay, get into trouble ! I think the attitude of many people is wrong too : we are afraid to protest, young people are afraid to let hear their voice... and the rich ones are taking advantage of that, and the companies !
