Great kasianowak 2017-11-17 13:12

Hi Fredrik
What a coincident, I have just come back from Tanzania. I, too, visited Zanzibar and travelled around by local buses(Dar-Arusha-Marangu-Arusha-Mwanza-Dar). I was told the bus from Mwanza to Dar Es Salaam would take 12.5 hours. Instead, the journey lasted 30 hours, including all passengers sleeping on the bus for 6 hours in Morogoro!
I also had an impression that many people were trying to rip me off. Although I must say that many locals who have regular jobs (hotel receptionist, guide etc.) seemed to be honest and hard-working.
Lovely image with beautiful light and lots of depth and sense of perspective.
Best wishes

Talking To kasianowak: Tanzania

Hi! Nice coincidence! I agree with your views on the people. I have to say most of the guides in Zanzibar were too aggressive for my taste, but I understand, it's a place that depends a lot on tourism. I got a good impression of the people in the hostels/hotels. There seemed to be a lot of serious hard-working guides too.

I actually considered going by bus all the way from Kigali to Dar (through Mwanza), but ended up flying. It's not the best place for a never-ending bus ride! But then again, they're good stories. I remember stopping in Morogoro on the way. I spent some time making fun of the name as it's hard to say fast many times. But it sounds like you got plenty of time to learn... I had to sleep overnight like that two times in Zambia. Quite annoying, yet obviously part of the adventure. There too the rides took 10-15 hours more than what I was told.
