What an interesting photo. I would not want to go for a swim in this water, but wouldn't mind going fishing for eel. Have you any good recipes for your catch of the day?

Dear Bulent - Thanks for stopping by. I'm thrilled with the links you posted in your comment. The family link will take me a time to go through: it is very comprehensive. The Masefield one is fascinating, we studied some of his poetry at school but nothing of his life.
I can understand the poignancy. The connection underlines the madness of war. Two good men on opposite sides whereas they could have been sitting down to a cup of tea together had 'life' not intervened. Best regards Rosemary
