I would typically regard the blown-out highlights in the background as a flaw -- but in this instance, they serve to tell the viewer that the background is unimportant, that we should focus our attention on the woman who is the subject of the foto.

Hello Russ,
Thank you once again for your concern, encouragement and supporting critiques (comments). I fully agree that the background is blown out, since the picture was exposed during mid day. The woman was moving fast and the space available was uneven. Hence I showed interest in focusing and clicking the woman. In future I will try to expose a picture without blowing out the background. I think your exposure was correct -- it was a difficult shot, given the dark tones in the subject and the brightness of the background. Your choice -- to expose correctly for the woman and let the background be overexposed -- was the right choice, I think.
