Bonjour Denis,
This is the grand kind of scene that I have often tried to capture with little success, So let me see if I can figure out what you did to make this work. The late light turns the foreground cliff to gold and allows the opposite cliff to block the sun making the water contrast well with its deep, rich blue (no wind-ruffled glare to compete with the cliffs). The the curve of the river draws us to the sun on the distant field which adds depth and draws attention to the village. Finally the lazy clouds add interest to the sky. This is a deceptively simple composition; everything had to be just right for it to work.
