Hello Brigitte,
If I remember correctly I took this image as I was hiking down the canyon from Olmstead Point towards Half Dome. If I am correct the trees were very close to the first section of trees and the only meadow as you would hike past the rock trail. If I am not correct, the trees were across from Olmstead Point on the granite hillside. Now that I look at this closer, I do believe that is where I took this as my friend was painting just above the trees. If you were to climb to the top and look off the edge you would see the lake and towards Mt. Whitney, an easy 2 day climb to the summit of 14.000 + feet, as long as the lightning does not erupt as normally it does in the afternoon.
I just saw your post, and I was not anywhere near Half Dome when I took this, good shot of the tree and Dome by the way.
