Great holmertz 2021-10-11 12:08

Hello Paul,
It's a very nice postcard even though I rarely see postcards shaped like bookmarks. I guess we have to accept that buildings of a cultural heritage can't always stop development of modern towns, but at least you did well to keep the construction crane out of this photo. The WS are interesting too. I can't say I fully understand the intention of the installation, but it still makes a visual impression.
Best regards,
Gert

Thank you Gert,

There are many places where some say that new architecture doesn't fit with the existing older (historic) buildings.
A well-known example of discussion is the Haas-Haus in Vienna opposite St. Stephen's Cathedral. According to others, it is precisely this kind of contrast that provokes discussion about architecture.

I found both buildings on either side of the street very interesting to see.

However, in Kortrijk you will not see new original architecture next to the Broel Towers, but simple buildings with apartments (albeit luxury apartments). There is, of course, a need for housing. But I don't think that this was the right location.

Kind regards,
Paul
