Great bazal 2008-02-22 1:08

Hi Kristaps.

These Ecuador landscapes are really amazing, indeed. Once again, I like the focus you have chosen on the small river and the smooth grassy slopes contrasting with the sharpness of the volcanic rocks. What are the orange spots on the right side? Are they due to the presence of lychens or some kind of moss?
Thanks for sharing.

Default To bazal: stones

bonjour loic

first, let me thank you for your visit and the kind words. as to the orange spots: those are actually stones. to be honest, since the rain hit in soon after this foto was taken, i did not investigate further whether the color was due to rusty iron ore displays in the stones or sulfur. the place did not smell of sulfur, so i assume it's iron ore.

kind regards,

Hi Kristaps, and thanks for the infos.
It is probably not sulfur, indeed, as the color would be much more yellow than orange. And it is a bit too flashy, too, for iron oxyde but well, it's difficult to say from this distance!
Kind regards.
