scanning negatives

hello everybody, I am now in the process of scanning my negatives , from pictures taken while I was in argentic mode. I no idea aboutthe range of order I should choose to have a good spatial resolution afterwards, to go until 20 x 30 format. The scanner is giving of course default values but I am not sure I should believe them. Do you have advices ? Thanks a lot in advance. Geraldine

If you want to get a print of 20x30cm you should choose the resolution something like: 2362x3543 pixels.
This allows you to have 300dpi (dots per inch) resolution
