Re: To cry or to laugh?

It's also size dependent. While the 400x268 pixel version of this got a measly 25, the 800x536 pixel one received a whopping 88. The...

Re: To delic: hi

Maybe you can increase the brightness locally to reduce the darkening. Some cropping may help too. Great photo regardless. Cheers!

Re: To delic: pp

Judging from the light on the mountain, I assumed that you have brightened the foreground considerably. There is a lack of definition and detail on the rocks, no? Anyway, don't take this too...

Re: To delic: hello hakan,

Ah, I did not notice Luko's comment and WS. I think I like it better that way myself but I don't favor the contrast increase in the WS. Your original is perfect in that regard. Best,
Hakan

Re: To delic: Seagull's...dinner

Ah, so it was intentional. I thought it was perhaps some sort of a crazy lens issue. Thanks for the tip!
Best wishes,

Re: Has anyone had problems shooting in the UK?

Seems like it's time for Bush to bring democracy to UK :).

Re: To delic: stitch

Thanks for all the details, Carlos. I have been shying away from stitch jobs for all the PP that's involved. Your excellent output is encouraging me to give it a try. All the best,
Hakan

Re: To delic: PP

Good day Kristaps :),

You are right about the monitor problem. Calibration and different resolution levels make it impossible to have a uniform quality. We all struggle with it. I am viewing on an...

Re: To delic: Thanks

I drove up Akaretler hundreds of times, and never even remotely considered the area for photography. Congratulations for spotting this scene.

Re: To delic: hello Hakan

I absolutely agree that going wider would compromise the composition as you point out. I was really thinking about the swan being uncooperative in this case by not swimming just a bit further away....

Re: Camera Tripods and Airplanes

I check my tripod in, padded with socks, sweaters, etc. in the suitcase. The ballhead always comes with me. Head damages can be fatal whereas legs can be fixed/replaced in the destination with some...

Re: To delic: Coyote Buttes South

The Wave is in the north section of Coyote Buttes. Apparently, south is not as impressive, which is probably why I managed to get a permit on-line. I'm a bit concerned with driving the House Valley...

Coyote Buttes South-road condition

I have a permit for Coyote Buttes South area for early April. I'm curious about the conditions on House Rock Valley Road as I'm planning on driving a 2-WD sedan. Will park at Lone Tree and hike from...

Re: To delic: PS adjustments

I use "save for web", too. Too much contrast and saturation cause loss of detail, more so in highlight areas. I haven't printed anything for over a year. I just view on computer screen, and my images...

Re: To delic: fall-off

Hi Caleb,
Yes, i was referring to the light fall-off in the corners. It didn't look like vignetting due to filter. I have been hearing about this being one of the issues with full frame but wasn't...

Re: To delic: technique

Forgot: I was going to comment on the smoothness of the girl's face. Looks fine because of her age. But the excess NR you mention would show on the older woman's face.

Re: To delic: technique

That's exceptional clarity at ISO 3200, w/ or w/o NR. These noise reduction software get in and out of fashion. Noise Ninja and Noiseware come to mind. They typically cost in the 40-50$ range as...

Re: To delic: Big learning curve

Thanks for the feedback, Pat. I guess CS2 may not get a plug-in to support D300 files to force people to upgrade to CS3. Best wishes,

Re: To delic: note

Now I feel bad. I think you should keep the original title because it was inventive and it conveyed a universal message. You didn't even need a note with that title. The man represents a free spirit...

Re: To delic: note

Hi Kristaps,

I see the connection between the birds, the title "freedom circle" and the note. It's just that the cyclist and his shiny bike grabbed my attention a bit more than the birdies. Never...

Re: To delic: posting tips

No, we are not :). In my lab at the university, we strictly use Apple G5 because PC workstations are simply not able to handle the computational load. It's not just hardware but also the operating...

Re: To fulvio52: desaturation?

Sorry for butting in... Firefox is not color-managed which means anything is possible colorwise. This is why you see images undersaturated compared to PS. The latest Safari (and Explorer) is...

Re: To delic: trip purpose

Hi again Kristaps,
These street portraits are very hard for me, and I simply don't do it. Your work is pretty good actually, so I was not complaining really :).
Too bad the weather was not good. I...
