Walking Street Scene Panoramas

Hi,

I recently took some panorama photos in Shanghai which I want to stitch together.

I've looked at the panorama stitching programs described here:...

To RGatward: Kashgar Animal Market

Anyone can just turn up there, it's a few kilometres out of town on a Sunday. There were several tourists there (including myself), but the locals seem to carry on regardless.

Re: Canon G6 - G5 - G3 owners... please read this

The EXIF data is imbedded in the JPEG image... if you download it (or maybe even right click on it and look at the properties, you can see the EXIF data). It was 1/400 second... the 1/40th sec...

No, it's a long, long way to Xian! I've re-worded my note, take a look there for more info about Xinjiang.

Phones in HK

Yes, a lot of mainlanders buy phones in HK as they are cheaper... U have to be careful which one you buy though as some HK models can't send text in simplified Chinese.

Sandals with Wedding Dress

Sandals are sexy. But they are also sensible compared to some of the other stuff I have seen. After a real wedding I saw a bride having her photo taken in her wedding dress... she happened to left up...

To GrahamB: Big camera, small ice-cream

Thanks for the comments; I guess a foreigner walking down the street with an SLR and big lens at eye level does tend to stand out ;)

To manny: The Philippines and news stories

Yes, I know about the exaggeration of all the bad news from the Philippines in the media - I'm half-Filipino (although born in Australia). I've been to the Philippines about 16 times and have a good...

To Darren: Starbucks

I actually think there are a lot of better coffee shops than Starbucks if you go to HK, Australia, the UK or pretty much anywhere else. To me, Starbucks coffee in the UK tastes a bit like dishwater!...

To Darren: Waiting, waiting

I did wait for the guy with the bike to appear (it's actually a bike taxi). I dropped the ball a bit with the shutter speed, often (I seem to remember in this case too) I use shutter priority mode. I...

Re: Preferred ISO400 colour film?

No comments about the colour film: however on the B&W front, try out Kodak T400CN, which like XP2 is a C41 developing black and white film. As painfull as it is to ever consider a Kodak film better...

To merpb: Thanks, lenses and photo oportunities.

Thanks for the the comments. I'm suprised how useful the 50mm lens is - I originally got it for low light, but I've found if you just leave it on, good photos like this one just seem to find you.

Re: To ebrakke: positioning probs.

Uh, ok, I understand the black shadow now. However for me the shadow is still a distraction - it looks like a 'clean' photo, except for the shadow which looks a bit out of place for me. Don't get me...

Re: To Josh69: Flags - Jianshui

I think there is: I get all mine scanned direct from the negative and the colours seem to be richer, more contrast and everything sharper. But doing this is cheap in China, if you do it on a routine...

To ChrisJ: Sharpness (or the lack of it)

Mmm, yes, I would have liked it sharper - however it was a choice of an unsharp photo, or no photo and in this case I decided sharpness was not everything and posted it.

It was quite dark in the...

The 'V' or Victory sign is suprisingly common in Asia. I remember growing up in Australia, it used to happen there as well, but no any more.

Here is another example (courtesy of Boof) of the V:...
