Hello Paul - This small square looks pristine with the bright whites contrasted by the clear blue sky. The yellow details and splash of red from the laundry inject extra colourful highlights which liven the composition. Hard to think that these walls have borne witness to the spectacle of chained prisoners as everything looks so peaceful!

Hello Bev - I do like the seaside in the off-season. Places like this have far more atmosphere when empty of holiday-makers and all the amusement arcades are shut. Often a bit shabby-looking I think. In this shot the pier looks anything but shabby; I see no litter just a well kept and cared for place for a bracing, breezy walk!
How brightly the sunlit colours stand out against the muddy colours of sea and walkway!

Hello Mariusz - A fairy-tale house and one I haven't seen or heard of. This will go onto my list for a possible future visit. The intricate patterns in the brick work are crystal clear in this shot and as you say the style is quite eclectic but unique too. It looks as if the weather was quite kind to you for your visit, there is pretty light across the scene. Not long till spring, I can imagine this garden filled with daffodils!

Hello Carlo - There is such a lot to see in this well managed shot. It seems as if one must pass through a series of rooms in order to get into or out of the church. Each is differently detailed and has an individuality. Your composition invites me to walk through the spaces to the street we can see in the distance.

I am impressed by the size of this station which your elevated POV helps to describe very well. The sunlight streaming down onto the palms and other exotic plants puts them firmly into the spotlight and for travelers, I imagine, the lush greenery is soothing in a location known for hustle and bustle! Tricky light but quite nicely managed.

Good Evening Denis - I'm a bit late to comment on this one but each time I see it I am captivated by the welcoming warmth of the houses. More so I think because the colours contrast so well against the deep grey-blues of sea and sky. Beautiful managed light and a simple but elegant composition; this is lovely!

Hello Abmdsudi - I love the rosy cheeks of this lady and her face looks open and cheerful. The way she leans towards your lens makes it seem as if she is wanting to step out of the frame and talk with me. I like that! The little child looks less certain but with a mum like this one he will soon get used to mixing with others. A lovely shot to commemorate Woman's Day.... an unsung hero!

Hello Jean - This may sound ridiculous but the lay of the land reminds me so much of the Sossusvlei area of Namibia. It is the flat plains that rise up to the mountains that does it. OK the climate is quite different but the overall look is similar. Here there are mountains where we have huge dunes! The colours are wonderful and details lovely. I like the FG with the yellowish grasses. They contrast with the grey tones of the lake.

A country I would love to visit one day.

An impressive compilation Stephen, no mention of a tripod... is this hand held? I love the crop on this, it emphasises the angle of the riverbank and all leads to the blue lights which shine against an inky sky. Wonderful reflections too.

Hello Eleu - An expansive landscape taken from an elevated vantage point. How beautifully your shot reveals the vastness of the scene. The clouds create shadows across the landscape and we can see that storms are afoot. In some respects this reminds me of parts of South Africa. Beautiful!

Hello Jean - This is unusual architecture, I don't remember seeing swallow-tail details like this before. They are very distinctive and make a super repeating shape throughout your shot. I like the composition, the cobbled FG and adjacent walls lead the eye directly to the central entrance gate and tower. The shadows in the FG have been well balanced in your exposure as we see good definition across the whole image.

Hello Ann - I bet these chickens will actually taste like chicken... far nicer than the fish-meal fed battery chickens that we get here. I cannot get free range chickens (or eggs) in Namibia. Pity!

I love the way the man is walking and hanging on to his dinner with determination. I wonder if his wife will dress the birds once he has wrung their necks?

A well spotted DL scene, in addition to good management the composition has dynamism.

Hello Constantino - I find this a very pleasing and well balanced composition. The curved line formed by the pier-edge is elegant and I like the way it sweeps the eye to rest on the moored boat. The diagonal formed between the bottom LHC, the street light and the top RHC is also a strong feature. Colour-wise the shot is given extra oomph by the bundle of nets; they also make a good anchor point around which the shot it built.

The shot gives a completely different feel to Leros Ourania. It is fascinating to see just how much B&W contributes to a DL scene. The image loses 'prettiness' and gains a more direct and documentary look which I like very much. Simple, classic and a well captured scene, your lines of composition; mooring line which cross and the diagonal formed by the edge of the concrete add good structure.
