great, this view of Eruq Kala if I'm not mistaken. You must have seen it from the top of Ayaz Kala. Both fortresses were built in the Kushan(Buddhist) period (2nd century CT) to secure the Oasis Khiva - with Adobe material ! Your picture brings up an interesting question: how do you militarily defend an oasis in the middle of a huge desert?

Dear Wolfgang,

you did an excellent job here, the beautiful mosaοc is difficult to catch on camera because of the obstructing trees. In your picture the branches add a welcome effect of dissolution. When I saw Divan Begi Medresa I couldn't figure out a good angle like you did. The mosaοc a pretty liberal interpretation of Ikonoklastic rule applied by Shiite artisans ! Is the sun with the mongol- looking face a recall of former Zoroastrian beliefs? Thanks for this, Dieter

Hi Gyorgy, this photo was carefully and beautifully composed. The best thing i like about this photo is on the left top corner where the point roof is positioned it perfectly covered the empty space.

I like the candid nature of your shot...the dynamic framing of the turban gives a sense of movement through the frame or if he was still a sense of pre-occupation beyond it. A nicely rendered situational portrait!

The temple of your photo, Krishna Temple Chyasim Deval, was not destroyed during the earthquake of April 25: he is still standing.
I saw on photos taken of Patan after the earthquake
