Members seem to have dismissed this photograph perhaps because it is seemingly ordinary. Quite the contrary; instead of zooming in to just one flower Neil has taken the bold step of including a whole mass - but ensured that the background remains out of focus.

A really natural photograph, well composed, yet without any pretence at being overdone by technique - a true journalistic photograph to a level at which most members should aim at. A very interesting description of the scene.

I find this a very boring picture and poorly composed. The inclusion of the high foliage to left and centre does nothing but confuse the picture - that foliage would have been better placed far to the left. The horizon cuts the picture in half - it would be better towards the top end or lower part of the picture. Other critiques continue to praise this utterly boring and poor picture - I am devasted that such praise can be made by members who should know better!

I feel this is a typical holiday-maker picture with no composition but just a get-in-as-much as-possible approach. I am sorry to say it, but the all of the preceeding critiques are wrong or giving praise when little is due. Sorry, but lets have some constructive critism not jut pats on the back.

Dear Lucio, Good observation. Would it have been possible to have used a vertical shot to include more of the ground/trees? We like to read about the photographs - where they were taken, what was happenning, difficulties, and so on. You can add some notes even after you have posted a picture so why not try now for this one? Tony Eden (in England)

Dear Sohpie, Welcome to TrekEarth. I like this action shot, particularly with the people walking in the background. The central pillar/doors are a little tilted and the visual impact may be greater by rotating the picture to make these vertical. Regards, Tony Eden

The previous member has removed some of the foreground in the workshop and, I think, improved the compsotion by doing so. BUt the sharpening has gone too far and destroyed some of the calmness of this scene. More notes would be apprecaited if only to tell us about the camera used for the picture.
