Chris, your photo has an aura of mystery for me, because I find many things in it that are beautiful and significant, and I know that you can not possibly have predicted all of them... the photo is a mixture of your deliberate art and that element of surprise that photography always brings with it... The photo has several very suggestive visual rhymes: three pairs of people. One knows each other and is interacting (the couple on the right), the other seems to not know each other but they are also interacting (the main subject in the center), and the pair in the background who don't know each other and are ignoring each other - the usual street passer-by situation. All this palette of "WE-ness" certainly deserves the word "we" printed there in front of us... Then the three hands. The one holding the woman on the right, the interaction-gesture of the bearded man, and - surprise? - the one printed there in front of us. Hand is action, and the actions here are all human interaction... A light shines likes a halo of sanctity above the head of the reaching-out, smiling man. He looks a bit crazy... But nobody's crazy as long as there's some "we" left in him...

Usually I value human presence in a photo - that's why I prefer street photography to landscaping. But every once in a while a photo like this one, which is an ode to human absence, strikes me as just beautiful and mysterious. Excellent shot, Ryan...

Beautiful poetry here, Chris, both in the image and the words. I like the role played by elements outside our view - whatever the dog is barking at, the Sun up ahead and, more importantly, the expression of the girl in the middle - only guessed but so present in this picture. Some expression with slightly parted lips perhaps...

Great expressions Mark, it's a complex photo that leaves our eyes traveling from one place to another, from one depth to another, from focus to blur and back. Very good indeed - a mixture of public space and personal intimacy, loud laughs and secret thoughts.

Hi Stan, congratulations on your year in TE! I remember critiquing your very first photos and following your first steps here... you were already a good photographer when you came here, you just had to adapt to the site (and to digital post-processing). You've come a long way and this photo is a nice example of it. I haven't been present here lately, but I still come by every once in a while to look at the photos, and I couldn't let this anniversary fly by without leaving a word... :-)

Hi Grazyna! Wonderful picture, and such an ingenious PP, blowing everything to white! Just excellent. You know I haven't been critiquing lately, but I occasionally come and check the photos from my friends here in TE, and let me tell you're really growing as a photographer! Your photos keep getting better, smarter, more elaborate and... well, beautiful.
