I love this photograph and think it is an excellent exploration of line and light. The slightly diagonal lines add a sense of movement to the image as the eye travels up the steps. I do think that a closer crop at the top (to the top of the white line) would give it an even greater sense of mystery and balance the image a little better. Excellent photo.

I like this shot a lot and think that the over-exposed sky and the harsh, exploding light provides a nice contrast with the soft green grass. The light illuminating that bush on the right is an added bonus. If you can, you should revisit the site and take it at the opposite time of day in which warm, directional lighting is hitting the front of stone structure, instead of coming in from behind it. That will really bring out it's texture, and you will have saturation in the sky to boot. A famous photographer once said, the next time you want to take a picture of a sunset, turn around and see what it is illuminating. That advise has served me well. As far as an ND Grad, I am not sure that would have been too helpful with this image. First, it looks like the difference between the sky and the face of the stone is several stops and is just too much to have the desired effect. Also, the line on the grad (if aligned with the slope of the hill) would go right through the top of the stone structure, rendering it darker than the rest. But, of course, the best way to find out what works and what doesn't is to shoot, shoot, shoot! Good job.

What a great shot; I knew as soon as I saw the thumbnail that I was going to like it. I love this type of art! The shallow DOF and complementing colors make this image work. A few suggestions though - I think the bottom is cropped a little too much. It needs some more room for the eye to travel upward. Also, the horizon isn't level. Not sure if that was your intented effect to make a statement of some sort, but it did distract me slightly. All in all, a great photo! This one's a favorite.
