Photographer's Note

Zoutleeuw is a little town in Brabant. Roughly halfway between Cologne and Bruges, it was a regular stopover for traders and bankers. Zoutleeuw rose to prominence in the early Middle Ages as the region's most inland port.

Later the city of Tienen took over as a regional center and Zoutleeuw hasn't really expanded much ever since. Today it has some 8000 inhabitants only.

In this picture you see the gothic Sint-Leonarduschurch, which was built in the 13th century.

It is main claim to fame is its still complete gothic interior, which is quite unique. But check visiting times, because otherwise you might find it locked.
