Prayer time, a photo from Nabeul, North

Photographer's Note

Moment of prayer in the courtyard of the mosque of Nabeul, of fairly recent construction but really rich in decorations and colors. I had very little time to take 2 photos of the courtyard, then we were removed. In the main photo there are faithful in prayer, while in the WS you can have a complete view of the courtyard and the very high minaret that dominates the city, the provincial capital of a vast area that goes from Kelibia to Hammamet.

MOMENTO DI PREGHERA

Momento di preghiera nel cortile della moschea di Nabeul, di costruzione abbastanza recente ma davvero ricca di decorazioni e colori. Io ho avuto davvero poco tempo per scattare 2 foto del cortile, poi siamo stati allontanati. Nella foto principale ci sono dei fedeli in preghiera,mentre nel WS potete avere una visione completa del cortile e l'altissimo minareto che domina la cittΰ,capoluogo di provincia di una vasta area che va da Kelibia ad Hammamet.

Tu as bien capturι l'action des personnes qui prient. La prise de vue permet de voir les dιtails de cette partie de la Mosquιe. L'image est claire et nette. Bonne soirιe.

Hello Luciano,
A good daily life photo of those praying men at the mosque. The warm colours and decorations on the walls make a good backdrop. The photo is well composed and balanced too.

I am less interested in people and more in the beauty of architecture so the workshop photos are more interesting for me showing the courtyard or the minaret. Both beautiful.
But I know on TrekEarth many people prefer seeing people in photos rather than the world around them so probably you made a good choice for the main photo :)

Hello Luciano,
I am surprised they told you to get out after they had allowed you to come inside. Usually non-Muslims are either not allowed inside at all or welcome to stay as long as they want. The WS photos give us some idea of the architecture while the main photo shows us the more personal side of the religion and culture. This upload is a good combination of both kinds of photography. Contrary to what some persons may believe, most photographers who like to include people in their pictures also have a keen interest in the environment and culture. The problem for some postcards lovers is that they are too scared of taking photos or people.

I am not against religions, but almost all wars are result of believing.
But your two additional pictures are superb.

Luciano, nice moment captured in Nabeul mosque. The believers removed their shoes and hats before praying barefoot on the carpets. They wear the traditional white djellabahs. Fine colors, good image quality, interesting photo note, regards.

Yes, the blue sky and the blue sea sometimes makes me forget that Tunisia is an Isramic country but they are serious Moslem people in fact I know. You did get the strikng moment in the best timing.

fine WS photos to compliment this main one, I like them both.
my favourite part of this scene is actually the yellow clocks on the wall with the blue lettering haha, for some reason it makes a strong presence despite its small size in the frame.
a fine cultural image of daily life and rituals from its locals. cheers

Ciao Caro Luciano,

Sometimes, it is really difficult to decide which photograph to post as the main one.
I love the sharpness and wonderful composition of the building, but I understand that people who are more interested in animated scenes would prefer this one. To be honest, they are all excellent shots and together, give a rounded view of the mosque and the people preparing for prayer.

The general view of the courtyard of the mosque is magnificent, but this detail of the characters at the time of prayer is sensational and so difficult to obtain, because they immediately expel you.
