Now back in Rangoon..

Clothing is partly about fashion but it’s also about practicality and that’s why the traditional 'longyi' is so popular in Burma - a feature distinguishing the Burmese people. 'Longyi' is their national dress - sarong-like garment, is a long piece of cloth that’s worn around the waist to cover the lower half of the body, if it's still large then needs to be wrapped. While men wear more boxes and checks, female longyi or 'htamein' is more floral with colorful patterns.

It's less expensive, airy and very comfortable especially during summer. In addition, it's rare even in cities to see footwear other than sandals, usually rubber flip–flops. Everyone in the country wears their national dress proudly.

Just a sneaky shot taken on a moving train in Rangoon suburb.
