Photographer's Note

The Membrillo tree, known in English as Quince, grows very well in this part of Andalucia and is often seen wild. In the Spring the trees are full of pretty pink blossom but now in late Summer the fruit is almost ripe. The fruit looks like a furry apple but the flesh is hard and is normally boiled with sugar to make Carne de Membrillo (Quince jelly). This is strong and sweet but goes well with something bland like fresh goats cheese. As you can see the weather is still glorious although the nights are getting cooler. This was not a difficult photo to take given that I live in the campo but I thought it would be of topical interest.
