Photographer's Note

This is a photo of the Old Battery in St. John's, the Capital. But do not get fooled into thinking the entire city looks like this. This is the old part of the city at the cliffs edge, at the entrance of the Harbour from the Ocean. These homes are over 100 years old, some renovated, some delapitated.

The Battery was the Cities protection during World War 1 and 2, there are many canons and bunkers still available for viewing all along the high cliffs.
The canons fought off German U-Boats from entering deep into the Harbour.

I will show a more wide angle shot later, showing the cliffs and Harbour City view, but for now, you can see the houses built on the cliffs and how they are used today.

Obviously this is a major tourist attraction, and there are walkways and trails you can take to walk the entire Battery - and it can be scary, with vertical drops and high winds...its an interesting and unforgettable stroll!

Have a great day
