Photographer's Note

Day 11 in Peru, a second repost of this panorama to be able to include a Large Version that I think is worth it.
This panorama needed 5 vertical portraits stitched to obtain the very wide angle necessary to uncover the pyramidal majesty of the magnificent Salkantay(6264m)!
We are on Salkantay Pass (4632m), 1km away from the base of the cliff but the summit thrones 2km higher! This is one of the rare points of passage around this superb summit that thrones as the second most prominent peak in Peru. The trail that most travelers take come up from Molepata on the right and continue on the left down where we came from, but in our particular case we'll climb up the pass in the center, known as "Inca Chiriaska" (Frozen Inca Pass) to go around the mountain's eastern side. First of we'll need to go down and back up around the massive glacial moraine clearly visible on satellite photos, it'll take the other half of the day to go camp on the other side.
