Photographer's Note

Our first stop, on the Pacific Ocean, after crossing the Panama Canal, was the Galapagos Islands.

A 900 nautical miles sail (a little over 1,600 Kilometers) in unpleasant weather conditions. The wind refused to cooperate and it was foggy with rain.

We had to endure 11 days of Mother Nature's bad mood, but where soon rewarded, with three weeks amongst animals we had only seen on television before.

At that time, the maximum visa granted to visiting yachts, was 21 days and for only tree islands.
Santa Cruz, San Cristobal and Isabella, where this photograph was taken.

Needless to say that it was spectacular and we used our visa until the last minute allowed.

But unfortunately we had to say fair well to Darwin's nature and start our long passage accross the South Pacific.
The next land would be 3,000 Nautical miles further(around 5,500 Kilometers)... 23 days and nights.
