Photographer's Note

Once one of the largest salt mines in the country, this old salt mine is far from abandoned. As a salt mine it made Zipaquirα one of the most influential economic centers of the region. Nowadays it serves as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Bogotα area.

It does not officially have status as a cathedral because it doesn't have a bishop, but it is indeed a cathedral. And certainly one of the most surreal places I have ever been to. It can host thousands of people. There were also a lot of tourists when I was there, yet it's so big that I felt quite small and able to explore on my own. If you ever go to Bogotα, Zipaquirα and this salt mine should be a must.

The picture was, once again, taken with my sister's compact camera.
