TROPICAL FOREST - ITATIAIA NATIONAL PARK
BORDERS OF THE STATES OF SO PAULO (SP), RIO DE JANEIRO (RJ) AND MINAS GERAIS (MG)

Sometimes I do that: grab my car and go wherever it can take me, only for the day (Craziness, some would say)!

Yesterday (a holiday in the State of So Paulo), I went to the State of Rio de Janeiro, some 300km away from CAMPINAS, right in the border of the State of So Paulo, in the town of ITATIAIA, where the ITATIAIA NATIONAL PARK (The first Brazilian National Park) is located!

I really enjoyed getting in there, seeing some waterfalls and some mountaineous landscape!

Due to the lack of time, I could only visit the lower part of the park! Here I was at the "LAST GOOD-BYE LOOK-OUT/MIRANTE DO LTIMO ADEUS", looking to the lower mountains of the park, where there is a pretty well preserved tropical forest (MATA ATLNTICA/ATLANTIC FOREST)! On the right, a bit far in the distance, one would be able to see there are some buildings! They're buildings of the park administration, with museums etc. and also some small hotels!

In the ITATIAIA REGION some of the highest peaks in Brazil are located (some reaching more than 2,800 m of height!). Behind that jungle, some km away, those peaks have different types of vegetation, including some areas of almost no vegetation, only rocks!
