Photographer's Note

This is part of the most amazing natural history of NZ showing that the earth is maybe not quite finished yet.

The chain of eruption that racked the fault line during a fatefull night of 1886 created an entirely new thermal valley, still geothermally active, called Waimangu.

This picture was taken in a huge and active boiling mud pool which plops away merrily, forming lovely concentric paterns.

Very impressive.

Thanks for looking.
