Photographer's Note

Following directly on from my previous photo 'Maroochy Curves' is this scene, forming the other half of the circular cove at the mouth of the Maroochy river. My previous photo was looking NE towards Maroochydore town centre and the hinterland. This was taken 180 degrees behind me looking towards SE on the same afternoon. The distant buildings are of Maroochydore beach, Alexandra Headland, Mooloolaba and Point Cartwright. The rocky headland to the left of the photo is Pincushion Island (which is currently joined to land by a sandbar).

The small boat in this photo is my family runabout 'Bayhunter' which we use to explore the Maroochy River as well as Moreton Bay to the south [see workshop]. The water here is not always calm, as very strong tidal currents occur here during the day in the main channel, but you can swim in this section. The water temperature is around 25C in summer. The largest fish I have caught it the water here was a 98cm (3 ft) flathead.

In this photo I have chosen not to crop the curve in the right corner as this would result in a 50/50 horizon line. Also, I did not include a title or signature because the computer I was using did not offer any decent fonts.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you don't find this photo too similar to my previous, I posted them consecutively as I think they compliment one another.
