Photographer's Note

These are all that remain of the once infamous penal colony at Saltwater River in Tasmania. During the mid 1800's coal was mined here. These ruins are not far from the more extensive penal settlement at Port Arthur, which served as one of Australia's main prison colonies in the convict era. Pt. Arthur again rose to prominence in the early 1990's when Martin Bryant ran amok indiscriminately shooting tourists.

Shot on an Olympus OM2 with Tamrom 80-210 Zoom and Hoya polariser. Quite a cloudy day so a really boring sky. Slide scanned with an Epson RX700

Some adjustments in Photoshop to Curves to change the contrast a little, and overcome some of the flatness of the original scanned slide. Warming photo filter applied with some Unsharp Mask.
