Photographer's Note
Lower Falls, the largest of the waterfalls in Yellowstone National Park, is one of the most awe-inspiring features that nature has to offer. This 308-foot tall waterfall generates an intimitating and ominous rumble, commanding immediate respect, and can be heard from unseen distances. Complimenting this feature are brilliant reds, yellows, browns, whites and oranges, created by hot water acting on volcanic rock. I have read that it is not these colors, but the yellow river banks at the distant confluence of the Missouri River that lead the Minnetatree Indian name which French trappers translated as 'roche jaune', or yellow stone.

Hi Jason,
Great picture of that amazing place. I saw a report about Yellow stone telling that there is a huge volcano below (70 kilometers wide!)and it can burst at any moment...If so, the impact on earth would be devastating.
Regards.
