Photographer's Note
One interesting aspect of Jeffersons design of the house is that it has no corridors. One simply passes from room to room to negotiate through the house. The dining room is in the middle. A novel feature (for that time) of the dining room is the huge skylight that Jefferson incorporated into its ceiling (see Jefferson's Ceiling). That skylight illuminated the chinaware on the table quite well. We were told the china was imported from England. An archeological blog on Thomas Jeffersons Poplar Forest website has a photo of blue and white pottery similar to the ones depicted in this collage with a reference to John & William Ridgway, manufacturers of earthenware and china at Cauldon Place and at the Bell Works, Albion Street, Stoke-upon-Trent from 1814 to 1830.

Jefferson'ın Porselenleri
Jeffersonun ev tasarımının ilginη bir yφnό, koridoru olmamasıdır. Biri evin iηinden geηmek iηin odadan odaya gidiyor. Yemek odası ortada. Yemek salonunun (o zaman iηin) yeni bir φzelliği, Jefferson'un tavanına eklediği devasa tavan penceresidir (bkz. Jefferson'ın Tavanı). Bu ışıklık masadaki porselen eşyayı oldukηa iyi aydınlatmıştı.

Hello Murat,
Nice porcelain that would probably fetch good prices on the antiques market. Four well exposed photos nicely presented together. An interesting view of the skylight in the WS. It looks inconvenient to have that window cleaned, but I think Jefferson had plenty of slaves to do it.

Gert

Hello Murat,
I like the blue pots, in Belgium and the Netherland are the name "Delfs blauw" toward the factory in Delft, or out of Limoges in France.
Also two wonderful WS pictures.
An excellent composition and lovely presentation.
Good detail picture too.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,
John.

Hi Murat
The old porcelain resembles Chinese willow patterns or English Wedgewood china. Good sharpness and nice warm cold color contrasts between the blue and tan. Tfs!
