Photographer's Note

This image is representative of Lake County.

On the left is a USDA subdivision with brand new homes, (meaning the homeowners participated in the building of them). On the right are two churches and then Anderson Marsh state park, which is also in the background at the end of the street. You can see several old oaks in the picture as well, and picturesque Clear Lake is about 200 yards away.

Then there's the street sign, which a local gang has tagged up with their symbol: 13. They tag up the church walls and even some of the rocks in the park as well.

This place is an odd mixture of extreme beauty right next to extreme ugliness and poverty. I've never experienced anywhere quite like it.
