State Capitol Symmetry

Today exactly 15 years ago I became a member of TrekEarth and what better way than to celebrate it by adding a new state to my map of the United States (which has become my photographed country). This is a photo from the capital city of Idaho, Boise and its State Capitol Building.

Boise is the capital and largest city in Idaho, the 14th largest and 12th least populated state of the U.S, which was admitted to the Union in 1890 as the 43rd state. Boise was founded in 1863. Nowadays it has got just over 200,000 inhabitants. The Idaho State Capitol, which is seen in this photo, was built between 1905 and 1920. The architects, John E. Tourtellotte and Charles Hummel, drew inspiration from St Peters Basilica in Rome, St Pauls Cathedral in London and of course the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

15 years passed quickly, and hope to see you here more than the next 15 years, cheers for that.
Beautiful this typical capitol-building edifice, just it was built with local grey bricks rather than the usually marble white.
Fine view to its width, clear and distinct.

I only passed by a remote corner of this state and have few photos. nice view of the classic building. curious as each state in USA has a similar building like this, in brazil each state has a different palace in terms os style, mine is a modernist building.

Proficiat, 15 jaat TE is een prestatie, op zijn eigen, de meeste leden houden het niet zolang vol.
Hopelijk nog lang samen op TE, maar voor mij zal het geen 15 jaar meer duren, ik ben te oud geworden, ben 1 jaar vroeger bij TE.
Een van de weinige foto's waar geen mensen opstaan, maar wel een heel mooi gebouw.
Misschien door de verandering van Amerikaanse staat!
Goed foto werk, bedankt.

I didn't know that you are so mature regarding your age on TrekEarth. Great gallery, fantastic contributions!
Beautiful photo to celebrate the anniversary.
I like the perfect symmetry so suitable here.
The picture is very valuable not only because it is your first photo from this state but also I believe this is a rather rarely presented state here in general.
I didn't have a chance to visit it myself, even though I lived in the US for a couple of years.
I was really not aware that they have such a beautiful capitol building over there.

Lars, it is an important building in Idaho capital. Its design was inspired by cathedrals in Europe but particularly by the Us capitol. The imposant grey building has a central dome. A garden and a commemorative statue are found in front of the state capitol. Fine colors, good image quality, instructive photo note, regards.

Hello Lars,

There is a similar Capital Building Washington DC clone in Denver Colorado. Good sharpness and well framed and composed using the rule of thirds. The clear blue sky provides a nice backdrop and I like the dual curves in the parking lot. Tfs!

Congratulations on your 15 years TE anniversary. :-) This capitol building is very attractive, and I wonder who the two "men" are in front - one a statue, and the other carved into the stone. The symmetry is definitely eye-catching, and so is the dome.

I know you're a big fan of these Capital city buildings.
you have several of them in your gallery. this one is very symmetrical and the curves in the road along the bottom are a small but important addition. too bad the building is kinda bland in its exterior color, but its still eye catching. fine post! congrats :)

Je zou bijna gaan denken dat het in de Amerikaanse grondwet staat dat de State Capitol van een staat alleen door een architect mag worden ontworpen die door deze drie gebouwen is geinspireerd. Weinig inspirerend in feite.
Mooie statige foto waar de symmetrie goed uitkomt.
