Photographer's Note

This is the swimming hole below the springs in Fossil Creek. It's close enough to the springs that the water is still warm 23°C (72°F), but soon the air will be too cold for anyone but members of the Polar Bear Club to want to go swimming there. I actually thought it was too cold to consider, but some of the hikers I met while heading back up the trail [6 km (4 miles) long and 400m (1,300 ft) climb to get back to the trailhead] were planning on using the rope swing just visible in the shade on the right side of the photo.

The photo was resized, the colour saturation increased and sharpened.
