Photographer's Note
USA - New York City - See you later, alligators. It may take a while, crocodiles.
I took this blue hour picture in Central Park.
Hopefully suitable to announce that I will disappear from TE for a while.
Its not a goodbye, but a see you later. I will return.
Some will probably remember that I announced my retirement not so long ago.
One of the benefits of being retired is being free to leave and also to stay away a little longer.
Frankly, this is what attracted me the most. Being elsewhere with more time and not immediately have to think of returning.
I am soon leaving for Nepal and also hope to visit more countries. Dont know when I will be back.
In the meantime, have some fun on this site and beyond also of course.
I dont think I will often go online on my trip. Only to make arrangements for the following overnight stays.
Honestly, I dont understand how some other members keep on posting pictures when theyre on a journey.
When I travel I usually stumble to the bathroom at the end of the evening, after which I fall asleep on my bed and I'm only awake when it's time for breakfast and then theres a new day full of new experiences.
So, see you later, alligators. But as I said, it may take a while, crocodiles.

Hi Paul
If you want alligators you'll need to visit the USA and Florida. If you want crocodiles you're going to have to come on down here to Australia (it's not that far on from Nepal).
Anyway - safe travels and this was a good one to finish on for a while. Great skyline and reflections.
cheers
Ian

Hello dear friend and have a nice time
difficult photo taken during the
blue hour but perfectly executed
its a pity that you will be disappeared
from TE for a while because your
photos are really worthseeing
and remain people that wish only points
and not good quality of photos
its a real pity for me..

Hello Paul,
Good luck and happy travels. This is a very elegant composition, full of big city atmosphere, to leave us with. But we don't even get the usual four additional photos now that you will be away for so long. I guess you will be back before spring anyway.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Paul,
fascinating photo: blue hour at its best and with a perfect reflection!
This must be a fast changing area around the central park, I don;t recall those narrow high buildings at all.
Perfect composition with the vegetation providing attractive framing to the scene.
I enjoy my current job but if I had a choice between it and traveling around the world I would probably choose travel :) so I envy you your situation: good health, freedom and budget sufficient to travel around the world!
I don't think I will be this lucky.
I know what you mean when you write about the holidays.
Indeed when I am away on a trip, I rarely switch on the internet, and I leave my phone in the hotel room.
The time is too precious, there is always so much to do.
Enjoy your trip, and I am sure we will soon enjoy your new photos here,
M

Hi Paul
It's bad and good news at the same time - bad for us as we will not see your photos posted on the site but good and exciting times for you. I wish you all the best with your travels and I hope you enjoy Nepal as much as I did.
Great blue hour photo to go with your "see you later" note by the way. :-)
Best wishes

Hallo Paul,

Hi Paul.Lucky you who are retired and have plenty of time to enjoy long journeys. I would also like to run without haste and in autonomy, but unfortunately I have little time and organized trips are the only way to see the maximum in the shortest possible time. Excellent metaphor photo from N.Y. , I'm glad that yours is a goodbye, we need your photos, even if today you just put one .. hahaha ... have a good trip!Luciano.

Hello Paul
Fantastic symmetrical reflections in the Central Park lake. Superb sharpness and blue hour tones with nice silhouettes. Enjoy Nepal. I left you some travel tips in Discussions. Feel free to pop in to TE during those rainy or cloudy days when you choose to sit back and do almost nothing. I would wash clothes on such days and use dental floss strung across the room if it was still raining, as a makeshift clothesline to dry a shirt or 2. Tfs!

Dear Paul,
Well, no I hadn't come across your retirement announcement ! Congratulations on this stone mark and good luck on your long travels !
We shall miss you and will so much look forward to admiring your photos when you come back.
I agree with you not being able to post photos on TE while travelling, but then again, everyone to their own. It's nice also to be able to witness the itinerary on time and online ...So enjoy your trip to Nepal and elsewhere.
What a perfect blue hour photo you chose to celebrate your departure ! So elegant and sharp. The lit-up buildings have a great effect on the dark vegetation, and their reflections are as as sharp as the real ones ! You could nearly turn the picture around !
Congratulations.
Marie-Louise.

Hi Paul,
Interesting view from Central Park. Tall and narrow skyscrapers certainly catch attention on this late blue hour shot. And reflections double the height of them.
